Most Expensive Part of Bafana Bafana

With the midfield of Bafana Bafana consisting of players participating in both Europe and South African soccer, it is interesting to find out what the players are worth. The Bafana team was announced by Stuart Baxter, the head coach last week. The new players making their way to the national team include Kamohelo Mokotjo and Bongani Zungu.

South Africa’s Bafana team faces Libya on the 24th of March in the qualifying round of the final Africa Cup of Nations. Bafana will need to either achieve a draw or win to ensure their spot in the AFCON taking place later this year in Egypt.

Soccer Players Worth

It is the midfield of the Bafana team that is worth an average amount of R172.3 million, the most expensive of the Bafana squad is the midfielder Bongani Zungu.
SuperSport United’s Dean Furman is worth €650 thousand or around R10.6 million in South African Rands. Sundown’s Hlompho Kekana is also worth €650 thousand or R10.6 million, while Mamelodi Sundown’s Tiyani Mabunda is worth €750 thousand or an estimated R12.2 million.

The massive difference in income is one of the main reasons why many top athletes leave South Africa to enjoy an international sports career. Jayiya, according to rumour has already required exit from the Kaizer Chiefs team as he is heading to Naturena in August. The player that is not happy with the circumstances at Kaizer Chiefs requested his clearance from the club and will find game-time elsewhere.

Since 2017, he has played in over 20 games for the team, and his current contract with the Kaizer Chiefs team will only end in June 2020. This only allows him to start signing pre-contract agreements form around January 2020. Another player that has already announced that he will also leave Kaizer Chiefs once his contract comes to an end is Gustavo Paez.

Although he has less of a waiting period and his current deal with Chiefs will end this year on the 30th of June. Currently, there is no indication who Paez have signed pre-contracts with or which team he would be joining next. The current question is if Chiefs would agree to clear Jayiya of his contract more than a year before the ending date.

South Africa’s Bafana team arrived safely in Germany well ahead of the match on the 24th of March to prepare for their upcoming game against Libya. The game needs to end in nothing less than a draw for the Bafana team to remain in the Africa Cup of Nations, should they have any hope of attending the event in Egypt.
