The wait is finally over as the England Squad was finally announced on the 13th of March 2019. England announced the 25 man squad for the EURO 2020, and while the qualifiers had much to celebrate. There were also some absentees that were notable as these included Manchester United stars.

The England Squad Announcement Includes the Following Players

The goalkeepers include Burnley – Tom Heaton, Everton – Jordan Pickford and Stoke City – Jack Butland. Defenders include Manchester City – Kyle Walker, Tottenham Hotspur – Kieran Trippier, Burnley – James Tarkowski, Manchester City – John Stones, Manchester United – Luke Shaw, Tottenham Hotspur – Danny Rose, Leicester City – Harry Maguire, Everton – Michael Keane, Leicester City – Ben Chilwell and Liverpool – Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Midfielders part of the EURO 2020 squad includes West Ham – Declan Rice, Chelsea – Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Liverpool – Jordan Henderson, Tottenham Hotspur – Eric Dier, Manchester City – Fabian Delph, Tottenham Hotspur – Dele Alli and Chelsea – Ross Barkley.

Forwards include Bournemouth – Callum Wilson, Manchester City – Raheem Sterling, Borussia Dortmund – Jadon Sancho, Manchester United – Marcus Rashford and Tottenham Hotspur – Harry Kane.

During the past few days, most of the sports news focussed on the EURO 2020 team and many guessed on who might be included. Others have predicted who would be left out and while some were right others never thought that James Ward-Prowse and Wan-Bissaka could miss out.

Gareth Southgate was excited to announce the inclusion of Declan Rice when he named the 25 players selected on Wednesday, chosen for the European Championship. FIFA only gave Rice clearance to switch to England from Ireland eight days ago. Although it is a complex decision for any player to change countries, the national association had to merely operate within the rules with so many players that have dual nationality.

After a massive and highly impressive display during his last year with England, Jadon Sancho was included in the team. Although Aaron Wan-Bissaka needs to wait before he receives his call as Kyle Walker of Manchester City is still ahead in the pecking order.

Still, there are not many players like Declan Rice that play as well as he does at his age. Gareth Southgate explained none are playing in the Premier League that place like Rice or that had such a bright future at such a young age. Rice was also named the Young Player of the year by the FA in Ireland. The 20-year-old made the perfect choice by shifting to England instead of staying with the Ireland team. His latest decision is the start of a very successful kick-off into his international future. Rice fans can look forward to years of seeing their sports star in action as Rice continues to improve in every game.
