Manchester United signed yet another name to their long list of partners. Not only was the announcement made this week that Yabo Sport is now signed on as a new partner, but also are they the Red Devil’s official gambling partner, pushing Mo Play out of their position. Just before the match started against Chelsea on Sunday, the 11th of August, the official announcement was made that Yabo Sport is the newly signed official partner of Man United. Not only was their logo displayed during the game in the LED signage, but also on the website of Man United.
Even though the details haven’t been made public, it appears that the deal is stretching over several years. The estimated value of the contract is placed in the area of £2-3 million per season. Manchester United have around 23 partners on their long list of sponsors. They also have signed deals with Marathonbet and Betfair. Even though it was as recent as August 2018, Manchester United announced that they are planning on making MoPlay their official partner in the gambling industry, that seems to have changed now. MoPlay, a brand owned by the Addison Global group, has been forgotten since then.
The deal with Yabo Sport is the handy work of Richard Arnold, managing director for the Red Devils. His reputation for being rather intelligent in his commercial dealings is well-known. This deal is yet another one pushing the annual revenue of Manchester United to even higher levels. Since Arnold took over the reins, the club’s list of partners grew as much as their revenue. During the 2008/09 season, the club’s revenue stood at £66 million. Arnold managed to increase that over less than ten years to a spectacular £276 million in 2017/18.
Arnold’s Lucrative Deals
Arnold has also been the orchestrator of various other very profitable deals for Man United. One of these is the deal with Adidas, the giant in sportswear. This deal is valued at £750 million and entailed Adidas getting to be the club’s kit supplier for more than ten years. Another lucrative deal was made with Chevrolet to supply their club’s shirts for £500 million. Arnolds has also set up many more transactions with leaders in various industries. These include Tag Heuer watches, Aon, DHL and the oil retailer Gulf. The magnitude of these deals is evidence of the prominent role which Manchester United fulfil within the professional football league.
Some of Yabo Sport’s other significant partnerships include the club Hertha BSC in the German Bundesliga as well as with a club from the French Ligue 1, AS Monaco. Yabo Sport is also involved in the Asian sponsorship of the Italian top-flight Serie A. When Yabo Sport agreed to the deal with Machester United; they became the first Asian betting partner in the English Premier League.
